Keeping our community safe during the coronavirus outbreak.
In light of the uncertainty we all face in our daily lives with the outbreak of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), I wanted to write to you directly to keep you informed of the steps I've asked my team at Deliveroo to take to ensure we are prepared for all scenarios. My absolute number one priority is the safety of customers, riders and restaurants, no matter what happens.
Hygiene is critical
There's a lot we still don't know about Coronavirus, but health authorities have been clear that maintaining good hygiene is absolutely critical. As well as setting up hand sanitiser stations in restaurant hot spots across the country, we're also launching a no-contact drop-off service which will mean you can request in the app that your rider leaves the food on your doorstep - removing the need for direct contact for both parties.
Deliveroo is here to help
We know that people's day-to-day lives are disrupted right now because of Coronavirus, and we're working hard to ensure we provide the best service to you during this period. As well as food from restaurants and takeaways, you can also order kitchen and household products from local stores and supermarkets on the Deliveroo app, making every day life that much easier.
We have a dedicated team available at any time of any day to answer questions related to Coronavirus, so you know you have the support you need from us.
Community comes first
We've launched a fund to support our riders who are at the heart of our business. We want to ensure they stay safe while working, so riders who are diagnosed with Coronavirus and find that they are unable to work during this period are eligible for financial support.
We are working with a leading pharmacy brand to set up a voucher scheme to give all riders access to free hand sanitisers and masks. Whilst we are setting all this up, we will be refunding riders for hand sanitisers they purchase.
As well as supporting our riders, we are sending frequent updates to our restaurant partners to share advice with them on what they can do to ensure food is prepared safely and packaged correctly for delivery.
We're also actively working with the Australian Government Department of Health to seek regular advice so we can prepare for any outcome as the situation evolves.
Throughout this time, we'll be relentlessly focussed on doing everything we can to support the restaurants and riders working with us, and to bring you safe deliveries from the best restaurants across the country.
